About us

Although history says this was not a true School House, our Inn has a definite character and charm that with sympathetic restoration has created a uniquely inviting venue. Even our seating recalls the past in the form of church pews and benches as well as comfy sofas and arm chairs. For those who know and love the scenery of this area, the conservatory and lawned beer garden are ideal vantage points.

We are situated along a single track lane in this idyllic and tranquil area of Low Marishes, attracting guests from both near and far, as well as holiday makers in the area. We have ample parking and views that stretch for miles of lush Yorkshire countryside.

Low Marishes lies only a couple of miles from Malton off the Pickering Road.

Mathew and the kitchen team create a selection of mouthwatering dishes that are served with genuine hospitality by Sarah and her welcoming staff. A sample of our menu is available here on the site to whet your appetite and we invite you to call if you would like to know what ‘specials’ are on when you are planning to visit.

The ingredients for our delicious, freshly prepared food are sourced for quality and flavour. We have a broad range of dishes to suit all tastes with vegetarian choices too. If you have any special dietary needs, do let us know, in advance and we will do our very best. Lunch is served for six days of the week and dinner is served during five evenings.

On warm summer days and nights, the beer garden takes you out into the wonderful, fresh country air to enjoy the tranquillity and natural beauty of this area. With ample parking and easy access from all major routes, The School House is the perfect choice for a meal, day out or drink with friends.
